Andromeda on black is my 2020 digital construction depicting the goddess Andromeda. This is part of my series of updating the works of Titian and Caravaggio, using new tools and a new approach. I pose and photograph the figure, wrap the photograph in fractal tattoos and patterns. Sensual beauty, other-worldliness and the tension of impending doom by the sea monster inspired this work. Andromeda was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to the gods for being claimed as too beautiful… She narrowly escapes. My version is presented as photographically detailed as possible to puzzle the viewer with her tattoos and the dramatic deep black space. My master is printed 1 of 1.30w» X 17h» on metallic paper on plexiglas. Reproductions are available here at various sizes on assorted surfaces.
